Made the mobile switch – I am now a proud iPhone owner

Last week my phone broke – literally, it broke in two. I obviously had no option but to get a new phone, the real question was which one. I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for at least 10 years and have always been happy with their coverage.  So, when I went to my local Verizon store to get a new phone I was told that I would have to pay full price even after I told them what happened. Now I understand that my contract wasn’t up and I wasn’t “eligible” for the deep discount on a new phone but they weren’t willing to budge an inch. In fact the customer service people at Verizon kind of had the attitude of “well it isn’t my fault you broke your phone”.  At this point I was not a happy customer and was actually quite annoyed. My contract was up in May so it wasn’t like I had 2 years left and I was not about to buy a “cheap” phone – I have standards! So after 30 minutes of getting nowhere and having less then friendly service I told them I was going to cancel my account and get an iPhone…and that is what I did!

Even though I have had my iPhone for only a couple of days I love it – AT&T Wireless service so far has been awesome (even worked on the train)  and I could literally spend hours downloading apps.

Here is a run down of my current apps (outside of the standard ones) running on my iPhone…

  • Mint.com
  • Facebook
  • Twitterific / TwitterFon (trying to find the best one)
  • Sportacular
  • NYTimes
  • AIM
  • Google Mobile App
  • iShoot
  • Monopoly
  • Black Jack
  • BubbleWrap
  • iChess
  • Suduku
  • CityTransit
  • fring
  • LinkedIn
  • BrightKite
  • Nearby
  • Pandora
  • Radio Javan

What are your favorite apps you can’t live without?

Me, the life long “PC Guy” is slowly converting to the wold of Apple – first it was the iPod(s), then it was buying my wife a MacBook and now I have an iPhone.  I have become a fan of Apple products but my main computer at home is still windows based – I will not consider myself a true convert until that computer becomes a Apple…so, when is the next MacWorld conference?
