I took my son to the local skate park today, he is only 2 but he loves to watch the skaters do their thing. Each time we go to the park or I see kids skating it brings back very fond memories of my youth. I was very big into skateboarding back in the 80′s, I wasn’t very good but I loved it. Myself and my skater friends would roam the local downtown area and random parking garages looking for anything and everything to skate off of. Even once I stopped skateboarding on a regular basis I was always into the skater culture – it was always something I found cool and fun.
About a year or so ago, while working at MTV Networks, I was given a new skateboard. I have ridden it here and there but have avoided trying it out at the skate park – but after today I think I want to give it a shot. So the question becomes, how old is too old to start skateboarding…again.

I am sort of in your shoes. I skated non-stop from around ages 11-16, until i became more interested in cars/girls/partying… now i’m in my twenties and just got back into it. my friend, it is never too late as long as your body can handle it. Get on that board and shred!
get on that thing and rip it!!!! you are never to old. if you can not walk that is different. you will enjoy the feeling you once did before. a little more on the sore factor but its worth it. learn tricks you never did before. i have friends in their 40′s and 50′s and they seriously kill it. go have fun.
