As I sit here with my wife watching the season finale of the latest Bachelorette I have to ask why do we love reality shows so much? 10 years ago when shows based on “reality” were something new and exciting I get why so many people, including myself, tuned in. However, now, every season of every reality show is just the same old situations and drama – just with different, yet very similar, casts. For shows like the Bachelor and Bachelorette the idea of watching people search and find love is obviously appealing but after 264 seasons, and only one true “love” success story, doesn’t the same-old-same-old get…well…old?
Of course the question that will be asked, if I hate reality shows so much why am I watching the Bachelorette? Answer is simple. First, I am spending time with my wife watching a show she loves – +1 for Kieran. Second, I am hoping for some drama and “train wreck” style television. Oh, and for the record – any show that involves Brett Michaels searching for love is not classified as “Reality” television – it is a instant, emmy worthy, classic.
One last thing, Jillian the current bachelorette is a sweetheart and cute but of all the woman in America they couldn’t find someone better looking?

Same reason why people can’t turn away from a car crash!
