It was the wifes turn last night to pick which movie we would order from on-demand. Her choice, of course, was the campy / teenage comedy “17 again” starring everyone’s favorite Disney star Zac Efron. Basic premise of the movie was the lead character gave up his dreams and opportunities as a high schooler for the love of his life…led a meaningless existence for the next 20 years…kids hated him, lost his job, everything going wrong – so he wishes he could go back to that happy time when he was 17. Of course, through the magic of a mystical janitor, he is able to be 17 again. Blah blah blah, same plot as hundred of movies already done…he realizes he had it good and everything is fixed, happy ending – role credits.
I of course was a bit reluctant when my wife chose this movie but figured it was at least watchable. I was pleasantly surprised at how funny and entertaining this movie actually was. However, the biggest surprise came with the man-crush I developed for Zac Efron. Yes, I am fully admitting I have a thing for the teenage heartthrob (who is 22). In the movie he was funny and played the part perfectly – plus combine that with his boyish good lucks and obvious charm and you can see why he won me, and my wife, over.
Judge me all you want, but I will not deny my feelings. Yes – I <3 Zac Efron and I am proud of it.
BTW, in all seriousness my wife confessed her love for Zac as well…needless to say this creates an awkward situation as she is 100% dead serious.
