No matter how you look at it, moving sucks. We are in the midst of moving out of our townhouse and moving all of our “stuff” into storage and to my mother’s house – our temporary residency. Thankfully we are only moving across town, instead of any sort of distance. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to move across the country! I would probably just give up and leave my stuff wherever I packed it and start over.
Moving does, however, provide some clarity into how you live, what kind of life you have / had and how you might be borderline crazy.
Some of my moments of clarity include:
- I am a collector…of junk. I have a hard time throwing anything out that might have an ounce of value.
- I am a speculator…I think that everything COULD be valuable one day (see point #1)
- My kids have way too many toys…current toy to play ratio is at 99/1.
- My fashion sense is amazing…I need to dive into my closet more often, there are some hidden gems.
- I love t-shirts
- I only wear 10% of the t-shirts I own
- My wife is way more organized then I am
- My oldest son doesn’t need a bed to sleep – in fact he views sleeping on the floor as exciting.
- Babies have 1000 times more things then I have
- I am a geek
- I hate moving
- I hate lifting things
- I can’t drive a big moving van
- My kids are useless when it comes to moving stuff
Who needs to pay a therapist? Just move…
